Religious Alternatives

We realize that most persons who view this project are probably Christians, and while you might agree with us that the 4th Watch is no good, you probably don't agree with us on our stance on Christianity over all. That's okay. For right now, at least we can agree that the 4th Watch is an unhealthy and dangerous cult, and that everyone needs to stay away from the 4th Watch and others like it. Hopefully, you are at least equipped now with knowledge of what makes a cult and can make educated decisions as to what churches you might belong to. We always say that if you are going to belong to a religion, at least stay away from the cults and any other bad religion. Don't let your religion control you and cause you to do bad things and to be bad persons. If you feel that you need Christianity, use the good things of that religion and ignore the bad. There are many good persons out there that consider themselves to be Christians. While they are part of an overall evil and immoral religion, they don't use it that way, and their Christianity is something different.

Now, we mention all this, certainly not because we're trying to promote Christianity, but because we are acknowledging that many persons will never give it up. But if that's going to be the case, you don't have to follow all of the immoralities that come with it. Just try to use it in a way for good, and stay far away from the cults! However, with that said, you must realize still that there are alternatives to your religion of Christianity. There are different religions, belief systems, ideologies, and philosophies that you can learn about and ascribe to, which in our opinion can provide you with a better way of life. We would just like to briefly discuss two of these with you, which include atheism and Humanism.

Atheism

Atheism is simply the belief that there are no deities. That is all. This means that there is no Christian god or any god at all. We know this seems like a scary concept to someone who has been a Christian their whole life, especially if you have been indoctrinated by the 4th Watch. You probably would like to know then who created the universe. You might want to know then where you get your morals from. You most likely need to know how you are supposed to live your life. Who do you go to for forgiveness? Is there an afterlife?

Richard Dawkins and Marissa Torres Langseth

These are all very good questions, but atheism doesn't answer those questions. What it does is free you from superstitions and immorality caused by your Christianity in the first place. Consider this. Christianity forces you to hate homosexuals. It forces you to treat women as sub-creatures. It forces you to become paranoid with thoughts of gods, devils, talking serpents, ghosts, and magic. Atheism gives you the choice of whether or not you want to be good or evil, moral or immoral, rational or irrational. With Christianity, there is only one way, a bad way. With atheism, you have open doors and many paths to choose from.

There are many questions that Christianity might answer, but just about every answer your religion has provided has shown to be incorrect. As an atheist, you no longer give into superstition, and you learn to reason, learning the real truth about who you are, the world, and existence. Of course, that doesn't mean you will have an answer for every question. But now, you will no longer be wasting your life hating others and worshipping gods who aren't there, all the while believing in things that are not true, only so that you have the answers.

When you consider atheism, your life no longer becomes a waste and can be filled with meaning. Consider atheism!

Humanism

Humanism symbol

Humanism is an ideology that rejects the belief in a deity, superstition and the supernatural, while promoting love, peace, and morality towards all persons. Humanism can be a simple ideology or religion, depending on how you apply it to your life. The head producer of this project is a Humanist.

Humanism can be an appropriate answer to the new atheist who converted from Christianity and has questions as to what path to choose. Like atheism, Humanism frees you from all of the negative aspects of Christianity and allows you to incorporate positive aspects into your life. But it also provides a code to live by, and that code involves living a life in love, peace, and morality towards yourself and all others, while not relying on superstition and imaginary gods for these things.

Ironically, Humanism is a lot like the Christianity that most persons who identify themselves as Christians actually live by and preach. Most Christians you see today, at least in countries like the U.S., never read the Bible and they have hardly a clue of what the God in the Bible is like, or what it means for Jesus to save anyone from their sins. To them, Christianity is supposed to be all about love, peace, and morality, as promoted by Jesus. The main difference between Humanism and this type of Christianity is that in Humanism, there is no Jesus, no god, and no superstition.

One way to describe Humanism comes from the International Humanist and Ethical Union:

spacer Humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance that affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. It stands for the building of a more humane society through an ethics based on human and other natural values in a spirit of reason and free inquiry through human capabilities. It is not theistic, and it does not accept supernatural views of reality. spacer

This description comes from the American Humanism website:

table section spacer table section
spacer Humanism teaches us that it is immoral to wait for God to act for us. We must act to stop the wars and the crimes and the brutality of this and future ages. We have powers of a remarkable kind. We have a high degree of freedom in choosing what we will do. Humanism tells us that whatever our philosophy of the universe may be, ultimately the responsibility for the kind of world in which we live rests with us. spacer

And Wikipedia describes Humanism as follows:

table section spacer table section
spacer Humanism is a comprehensive life stance that focuses on the way human beings can lead happy and functional lives. Though it posits that human beings are capable of being ethical and moral without religion or God, it neither assumes humans to be inherently or innately good, nor presents humans as "above nature" or superior to it. Rather, the Humanist life stance emphasizes the unique responsibility facing humanity and the ethical consequences of human decisions. Fundamental to the concept of Humanism is the strongly held belief that ideology - be it religious or political - must be thoroughly examined by each individual and not simply accepted or rejected on faith. Along with this belief, an essential part of Humanism is a continually adapting search for truth, primarily through science and philosophy. spacer

Marissa Torres Langseth

Humanists try to love everyone without doing so to avoid a place of torture. Humanists believe that murder is immoral, which is why God in the Bible is considered evil. Humanists believe that forgiveness must come from those whom you have done wrong. Humanists believe that while no one is perfect, we are more than just worthless sinners, but that everyone is special and deserving of love. Humanists treat females and males equally, unlike Christians which are taught to treat females as second to males. Humanists believe in appropriate punishments for different types of crimes, and that infinite punishment is inappropriate for finite crimes.

When you embrace Humanism, you are embracing love, peace, and morality. Embrace Humanism!
